A Few More Seats At The Table

As we get closer to opening our doors, we know that in order to make MERIT a great experience, we need to create a great place to work and to build a team of passionate, hardworking, and talented  people. We’re beyond excited to introduce the newest members of our team: welcome Andrea, Sue, Mallorie, and Cale!

It’s hard to believe that the distant dream of MERIT Brewing Company is now a dream come true! As I reflect on this, I know that so many of my past experiences have brought me to where I am today. I am a beer enthusiast with a background in teaching and non-profit work. Although these may seem disconnected, the common thread is my passion for people and the experiences we share together. My love for helping people grow, supporting community, and exploring beer, has landed me where I am today. At MERIT, we hope to help create a company culture based around learning and growing, family and teamwork.  Speaking of which…I can’t wait for you to meet our amazing team who are so creative, dedicated, and passionate about the merit of their work.

What could be better than great beer, excellent food and terrific people? I am thrilled to be joining the MERIT team! I bring over 20 years of experience in hospitality in both front and back of house positions. I’m excited to work with this team of passionate food and drink nerds to bring Hamilton a new space to taste, learn and enjoy.

Hello my name is Mallorie, I have spent the last several years following my thirst for beer around the globe, attempting to learn as much about the process and exciting history as I can. This exploration has taken me from hop fields to beer baths in the Czech Republic and now MERIT in my own hometown. Every tour, brew, lecturers and casual conversation over a couple (or more) pints brings some insight and new dimension to my education and passion. I am so pumped to join the MERIT team and looking forward to this new adventure.

I love food and beer. I am constantly thinking about, eating, or cooking food, both professionally and in my own kitchen. I am also a homebrewer, and love trying new local craft beers. I’ve lived in Hamilton for about 16 years, and watched the city grow. I am so excited about the food and beer scene that has recently emerged in Hamilton, and some of my favourite nights out consist of trying new restaurants and trying new beers in the local craft beer bars. I am thrilled to be a part of the good food renaissance in the city, and look forward to providing delicious food pairings for the excellent beer that will be coming out of Merit!
